Michigan Coalition on Adolescent Sexual Health (MiCASH)

This informal networking group agreed to meet quarterly for the next year, on Thursday mornings, at the MCADSV* offices in Okemos, and exploring the possibility of remote participation using Skype.

Michigan HIV/AIDS Council
African American AIDS Advisory Committee (A4C)

The African American AIDS Advisory Committee was formed to help eliminate the health disparities of HIV/AIDS among African Americans in Michigan. The A4C became standing committee of Michigan's HIV/AIDS Council in 2007. For more information contact Teresa Springer at Wellness Services, Inc.

The next meeting is October 5th. The meetings will be every other month now. For more information contact Teresa Springer at Wellness Services, Inc.

 

Michigan Women & AIDS Committee (MWAC)

The Women & AIDS Committee in Michigan was formed in 1987 by the Detroit Health Department HIV/AIDS Programs. In November 2007, Detroit hosted the REBIRTH of Michigan Women & AIDS Committee, and to further collaborate on HIV/AIDS health promotion and services to women and young girls.

Meetings are held every 4th Friday from 2-4 pm at Detroit Department of Health and Wellness Promotion, Herman Kiefer Building, 7th Floor Chapel, 1151 Taylor St. Detroit, (313) 876-0980.

Program Review Panel (PRP)

All materials (videos, pamphlets, books, etc.) that are used or distributed by HIV/AIDS service organizations funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to provide prevention education and counseling through the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) must be approved by the Program Review Panel (PRP). The approval of materials by the PRP is a requirement of the CDC. This panel is a made up of community members and is coordinated by the Division of HIV/AIDS-STD, MDCH. National Meetings

Meeting to advise SSA on revised HIV Listings

December 7-8 Washington D.C.

IOM is embarking on a new study to help advise the Social Security
Administration on how to revise its HIV Listings. The Listings serve as
a screening tool in determining disability. The committee will hold its
first meeting on December 7-8 in Washington, DC and will provide its
recommendations to SSA in August 2010.

An open, public session will be held on December 7, 2009 from 10am to
5pm where the committee will receive statements from stakeholders about
how the listings could be improved. We invite you to attend this
