Changes to the CDC HIV/AIDS Hotline Phone Number
The CDC HIV/AIDS hotline (800-342-2437) is now part of CDC-INFO (800-CDC-INFO), the new one source for public health information from CDC. Calls to the CDC HIV/AIDS hotline number are automatically being forwarded to CDC-INFO. This new service provides English, Spanish, and TTY service, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As of January 2007, the old number (800-342-2437) will no longer be in service. Please change all references to the old number to the following:

CDC-INFO
1-800-CDC-INFO (800-232-4636)
1-888-232-6348 TTY
24 Hours/Day
E-mail: cdcinfo@cdc.gov

Organizations are asked to make this change as soon as possible to their websites, printed materials, recorded messages on hotlines (if calls are transferred to the CDC information service), and wherever else the old number may be listed.

The CDC-INFO Contact Center is an integrated effort to provide timely, science-based, and consistent health information. CDC-INFO has the capability to expand immediately in the event of a public health emergency or threat. If you have any questions about his change contact Victoria Saho at CDC at < vsaho@cdc.gov  > or 404/639-5211.

Speakers Bureaus

"Positive Perspective"

MDCH/DHAS-HAPIS has contracted with the Michigan AIDS Fund (MAF) to administer a new statewide speaker's bureau. The new program entitled a "Positive Perspective", will utilize HIV positive speakers who tell their story in a three-part format that focuses on life before, during and after their HIV diagnosis (this is the same format used for the previous speaker's bureau, "Stories from the Heart").  Please contact Stacey Barbas, MAF Interim ED at (248) 395 3244  or e-mail sbarbas@michaidsfund.org.

Also, most AIDS service agencies have a speakers' bureau, see the agency contacts.
